Like you already saw in yesterday’s post (and many posts before), we have a slight obsession when it comes to styling, decorating and re-arranging our homes. Unfortunately, our budget won’t allow us to buy complete new furnishings every other week, therefore we’re on a constant hunt for small decor accents or trends that will give the place a new look without having to remodel everything. Lately, on one of our tours through Pinterest, we came across a trend we really loved and wanted to share with you: decorating with copper! Copper, rose gold or bronze are the more sophisticated version of gold and we love how the whole atmosphere of a room changes with one single copper pendant lamp. But it’s not only lamps we’re talking here – purposefully use copper pots and pans as styling elements in your kitchen, don’t put them away in some dark storage space. Light up a nice copper candle on your coffee table or go ahead and try copper cutlery instead of silver for once. You see – endless possibilities, endless ways of integrating copper in your home! Below, you’ll find our favorite inspirations from Pinterest – and if you can’t get enough (like us), check out our Pinterest board where we compiled our favorite findings!
Copper and pink
To us, the discovery of this color combination came quite unexpected. In all honesty, we would have never thought about pairing copper elements with a light shade of pink – but it really works somehow and there are enough examples on Pinterest to prove it. The bedroom above looks so eclectic, so modern but welcoming and cozy at the same time – we love everything about it! Throw some marble and a little green into the mix and you have yourself a pretty unique bedroom. Other rooms where this might work as well: the bathroom, the kitchen (with pink chairs like in the slider image above), the entryway (with a pink wall and a copper dresser).
Copper pendant lamps
The most famous version of the copper pendant lamp is for sure Tom Dixon’s mirrorball. But aside of the pricey designer version, you can find a million other copper lamps if you go on an Ebay hunt or be patient and wait for the perfect one to come along at a fleamarket or your favorite interior store. The pendant lamp in a copper shade reminds us of a Manhattan apartment or loft. The good thing about copper is that you can easily pair it with silver as well, so if you have a table with silver legs or a worktop made of stainless steel, the two colors won’t clash with each other.
Copper for greens
Copper is the perfect color to make greens pop – therefore it’s an amazing material when it comes to vases or planters. Our favorite combination is definitely succulents in a copper planter – a very elegant look, easily achieved. What you can also do is to spray paint some old tins and cans in hues of silver, withe and rose gold like shown in our slider image above. It’s a very easy DIY with a big impact.
