As much as we love a night out with our friends, there’s almost nothing better than spending the night at home with your boyfriend or girlfriend with a self-cooked meal, a nice glass of wine and a good movie. Even though there are countless enjoyable movies out there, we’ve tried to put together a collection of movies that we consider real classics and definite must-sees! From the unforgettable Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to The Godfather and The Graduate, we think these are our all-time favorite movies for a cozy night at home.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard in one of the best known love stories in all times – a definite must-see!
Dirty Dancing
Spending the summer in a holiday camp with her family, Frances (Baby ) falls in love with the camp dancing teacher.
Amélie
Amelie, an innocent and naive girl in Paris, with her own sense of justice, decides to help those around her and along the way, discovers love.
The Godfather
The aging patriarch of an organized crime dynasty transfers control of his clandestine empire to his reluctant son. This one will definitely score well with the guys!
Casablanca
Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, Casablanca is set in unoccupied Africa during the early days of World War II: An American expatriate meets a former lover, with unforeseen complications.
Pretty Woman
Julia Roberts in the role of her life: a man in a legal but hurtful business needs an escort for some social events, and hires a beautiful prostitute he meets… only to fall in love.
Forrest Gump
Young Tom Hanks is playing Forrest Gump, while not intelligent, has accidentally been present at many historic moments, but his true love, Jenny Curran, eludes him.
Bodyguard
Whitney Houston in her best times and how we love to remember her! A former Secret Service agent takes on the job of bodyguard to a pop singer, whose lifestyle is most unlike a President’s.
The Graduate
Recent college graduate Benjamin Braddock is trapped into an affair with Mrs. Robinson, who happens to be the wife of his father’s business partner and then finds himself falling in love with her daughter, Elaine.
Are there any movies that you consider “real classics”? Which ones do you recommend? We’d love for you to share them with us in the comment section below!

I’ll have to add:
Notting Hill
Sleepless in Seattle
You’ve got Mail
When Harry met Sally
Bridget Jones
xx Romi ;)
Great suggestions!! We think most of those would be perfect for our next movie list, which will be for a girls night :) Especially the classics like “Bridget Jones” & “When Harry met Sally”!
I agree with most of the ones above, for me it is also most of the Nicholas Sparks’ ones (The Notebook, The lucky one, A walk to remember…) as well as most movies starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan!:)
Ahh “The Notebook” – we love it!! That will probably go into our “Girls Night” movie list :)
And “A Walk To Remember” is so beautiful, but so heavy on the heart …
– The Virgin Suicides
– Vicky Cristina Barcelona
– Harold und Maude
– Swimmingpool
– Girl, Interrupted
the party, thelma and louise (!), the shawshank redemption, the third man, the piano, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, brokeback mountain, rain man, das leben der anderen, y tu mama tambien, science of sleep, revolutionary road, trainspotting, legends of the fall, angst essen seele auf, the tree of life…
Na, da muss es aber noch einige Regentage geben :) Danke für die Tipps, werden auf jeden Fall alle mal angeschaut!
all wonderful movies! I think breakfast at tiffany’s is my favorite!
