It’s a very common (and polite) gesture to offer some kind of aperitive before dinner, and on Christmas eve, there happen to be lots of invitations and seated dinner parties. Now, wouldn’t it be nice to offer your guests something else than your typical champagne as a start into the night? We came up with a pretty unusual idea for a Christmas drink that’s worth remembering until next week: gingerbread ice cream mixed with Baileys, served in little schnaps glasses. But basically, for those ice cream shots, you can mix just about any liqueur with any ice cream flavour you like – it’ll all taste good as long as you serve it quickly so the drink stays ice cold!
Here’s what you’ll need:
– Gingerbread ice cream
– Baileys
– chocolate sprinkles
– simple syrup (water and sugar)
– striped straws for the decoration
Prepare the syrup by mixing hot water and sugar until you have a thick liquid, then dip your glasses into the syrup. Wait a few seconds, then dip the glasses into the chocolate streusel and twist them until you have a solid rim of chocolate. Shortly before your guests arrive, mix the ice cream and the Baileys and pour it into your glasses, but be careful so you don’t destroy the rim. Add a straw (we just cut ours in half) and serve immediately while the ice cream is still cold.
