Even though halloween is not as big in Europe as it is in the US, we still love an excuse to dress up and throw a party on a Thursday. Now, in America, halloween is also known as the one day a year that girls can dress up in bras & panties without being labled as sl**s. Well, quite honestly, we’re not the biggest fans of those skanky costumes (and we loved this article by The Everygirl with 9 reasons to boycott slutty halloween costumes). Halloween should be spooky and creepy, not pornographic! That’s why we’ve come up with 3 inexpensive last-minute halloween costume ideas that are girly, yet honor the real idea behind halloween and won’t require you running around town in your undies.
1. Scary Minnie Mouse
Honestly, who doesn’t love Minnie Mouse? This costume involves sexy red lips, oversized mouse ears and super long fake lashes. Simply add some creepy red contacts or a fake scar to the make-up and you’re ready to scare some little kids!
2. Dia De Los Muerto
Probably one of our favorite costumes from last year was the Mexican “day of the dead” that is celebrated with family and friends to pray for those that have died. Pretty fitting for halloween, huh? For the costume, all you’ll need is an outfit in all black (preferably a maxi dress), a DIY flower crown and some black & white make-up. Find out how to create beautiful flower crowns HERE and watch THIS video for an easy make-up tutorial, as well as some pointers on the headpiece.
3. Brides Of Dracula
Legend has it that the brides of Dracula are three seductive female vampire “sisters” who resided with Count Dracula in his castle in Transylvania, where they entranced male humans with their beauty and charm, and then proceed to feed upon them. This would be an amazing costume idea if you’re going in a group with at least 2 other girls and a guy. As one of the brides, simply dress in a long, white gown (think more gypsy and lace sleeping gown, less princess bride) and vampire teeth. Long red nails, some blood dripping down from the side of your mouth and possibly a spider crawling in your hair will make the costume perfect!

Sehr tolle Ideen, besonders die Bräute von Dracula hören sich cool an!
Aber ich glaube, ich werde morgen nur zu Hause bleiben und mir einen ruhigen Abend gönnen :)

I have to tell you that I’m feeling really uncomfortable about your cultural appropriation of Día de los Muertos. I think you should be more sensitive when it comes to other cultures. You write yourself that Día de los Muertos is “celebrated with family and friends to pray for those that have died”. To me, it feels highly inappropriate to take another culture’s religious rituals and use them for your own amusement. (See: http://goo.gl/m4569i)
Maybe you could keep that in mind for next year!
