Even though we’ve experiencing unusually warm temperatures for November, we can already tell winter is coming. Our skin is getting dryer, the hair is starting to “fly” (so annoying when it gets static) and the lips are beginning to crack … BUT we’re determined to maintain our healthy summer skin this winter and found a few products to help us do so. Of course, everyone’s skin is different, and what works for us may not be right for your skin. However, we’re always on the lookout for a few new magical products, so maybe ours will do the trick for you as well.
First and foremost we want to talk about the face. After all, it’s what everyone else sees and what we’re most conscious about. During winter, we try to make it a ritual to expoliate with a nice peeling on a regular basis (1-2 per week, preferably under the steamy shower to open up those pores), followed by a super moisturizing overnight mask. Our current combination is Burt’s Bees “peach & willowbark deep pore scrub” paired with Origins “drink up intensive” mask. Do this twice a week for super soft and glowy hydrated skin.
Just as important as our face are the lips, because guess what, that mistletoe-season is coming up. Recently we discovered Dr. Kitzingers’s “lip micro-gel”, which truely works wonders and guarantees long-lasting moisture!! At almost 35€ it definitely does not come cheap, but a small tube of it will probably get you through the entire winter. Plus, the little applicator has a cooling-feeling, which we love. A great alternative is an all-time favorite of ours that we always carry in our purses: Kiehl’s “#1 lip balm“, with soothing emollients squalane, lanolin and sweet almond ail, as well as vitamins A and E.
Aside from our face and lips, we also try to take care of the rest of our skin with the “deep moisturizing bodylotion” by Neutrogena which is a great drug-store alternative to more expensive body lotions and can be found at almost every Bipa or dm. For our hands, we’re currently pretty smitten with Diptyque’s “baume généreux”. Admittedly, we only bought it because of the awesome packaging and, well, because it is Diptyque (obessed with their candles!!), but now it has quickly turned into one of our favorite hand balms. Apply it once before going to bed (and after doing the dishes, which will totally dry out your hands) for super smooth hands and amazing cuticles!
What are your “must-haves” for the cold season? Which products can you recommend for winter? We’d love to know – simply leave a comment below!

I’ve used the Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel for years now, but have been feeling like it isn’t moisturizing enough anymore, as my skin has gone from being mixed to dry and I’m thinking of getting the Kiehl’s for very dry environments, I tried it out on a tester and it’s been amazing!!! For the body I love the Body Shop Butters!

Here’s a question: You wouldn’t happen to know any Austrian store that offers Burt’s Bee’s products? Ever since I left the States I’ve been hoarding my left-over chap sticks like a crazy person (who doesn’t love that scent?), but I’m guessing it’s already time for some stock up… ;)
Thanks in advance & all the best,
Soph

Soph, you can buy Burt’s Bees at Müller. There are several stores all over Vienna, e.g. on Mariahilferstraße, at Westbahnhof and generally in most – all? – shopping centres.
Alternatively, you can order them through amazon (don’t know what they’ll charge for shipping though).
Happy shopping,
Alice
Hi Soph,
we ordered all our Burt’s Bees products through NU3.at and shipping was super quick and easy! They have the whole range & lots of the chapsticks :) Maybe that helps!

schöne Auswahl, aber ich vermisse hier eine Gesichtscreme mit LSF. Nie ohne Sonnenschutz aus dem Haus gehen, die Haut wird es uns später danken.
