Every Friday for the past 6 weeks we’ve shared our own Bubbly Friday recipes. In every one of those articles, we encouraged you to share recipes that you think deserve to be featured in the series – and we’ve already gotten plenty of emails with amazing ideas! So for today’s recipe, we decided to go with a reader’s suggestion (thank you, Sandra!) that combines mixed berries and fresh watermelon with Martini Bianco and bubbly prosecco. Sounds amazing, right? Well, we gave it a try last Sunday and were tipsy within minutes because we emptied our glasses a little too fast – it was THAT good!
What you’ll need:
– mixed berries (we used fresh blue- & blackberries, as well as frozen raspberries)
– ripe watermelon (best if without seeds)
– elderflower syrup
– Martini Bianco
– chilled prosecco
– crushed ice
– lemon balm leaves (optional)
Start by dicing the watermelon, and then mixing it with the berries in a small bowl. Tear the lemon balm leaves into bits (we left out this part as we were unable to find lemon balm leaves in the stores) and toss into the bowl with the berries. Add a bit of elderflower syrup and Martini Bianco to the mix and let it marinate. You can easily prepare this the day before and keep the mixture in the fridge over night. When you’re ready to serve the drinks, simply fill some glasses with crushed ice, add some of the berry-martini-mixture and fill with prosecco. We added blackberry-sticks to each glass as garnish, and the little wooden sticks are also perfect for picking the berries out of your drink.
