While we’re sad that summer’s almost over, we’re also happy that the best season to take city trips is starting again: fall! In fall, you still have warm and sunny days, but it’s not too hot for days full of sightseeing and exploring new cities either. A destination that is on the list for our next trips is definitely Amsterdam. It is also known as “small Venice” due to it’s many rivers and canals that flow through town and word has it that Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful cities that Europe has to offer for a short getaway. While researching for this post, we came across so many great, unique and stylish hotels, but we think we’ve managed to narrow it down to the best options – but see for yourself! Pack your bags, book your flight and off you go to amazing Amsterdam!
The Cityhub Amsterdam is a hostel in with unique design: travellers sleep in revolutionary sleeping units, “the hubs”. Based on an interactive and social concept, Cityhub stands for connection between people and a real social experience. The hubs offer free Wi-Fi, king-size double beds, multi-colour mood lighting and a common area with modern restrooms. And the best thing about it (apart from the price, rooms start at 54 €!!), just plug in your phone and surround yourself with your favorite music!
Bed & Breakfast Boat Amsterdam
With more than 100 kilometers of canals and over 1000 houseboats, it’s only natural to stay on the water when you visit Amsterdam. The Bed and Breakfast Houseboat comes with clean and welcoming interior design, a nice livingroom and a private terrace overlooking the canal – perfect for a cool drink after a day full of sightseeing! It’s designed for 4 people with a king-size bed in the sleeping room and a fold-out sofa in the livingroom. The owners live on the other half of the boat and provide sustenance with a nice and fresh breakfast at any time in the morning that suits you!
The Hotel V Frederiksplein is one of two “V” Hotels in Amsterdam and located right in the center of the city. The 3 star hotel impresses with urban, contemporary design, a stylish lounge with a leather sofa and a fireplace, free Wi-Fi and moderate rates – this package makes it our absolute favorite of all the hotels! For those who like it a little more private, the Hotel V also offers two lofts with a little cooking corner for self-catering.
The Dylan is a classical, elegant 5-star luxury hotel with a unique touch due to its historical building but modern interiors. For the rooms there are several design concepts to choose from, like the “Kimono style” or “Loxura style”. Some rooms even have two stories, with the bathroom located on a separate floor. On the backside of the hotel you’ll find a romantic garden which is perfect for a drink or little lunch in the hotel. The Dylan is also known for the exquisite cuisine and as a high-end event location.
The Andaz Amsterdam is a member of the Hyatt chain and is located in the historic city center. It stands out from all other hotels due to its very unique, creative and modern design. Let yourself get spoiled by the big buffet breakfast, take a sip in the Andaz lounge or have a nice dinner in the restaurant. Also, The Andaz is a great starting point for excursions around town – just rent a bicycle from the hotel and you’re ready to explore the city the Amsterdam way!

Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities – great selection of places to stay.
And don’t forget to order “en lekker bier en bitterballen” when you go for a drink in the late afternoon…typical Dutch drink and snack for in between :-)
Have a very HAPPY week :-)

Super Auswahl! Ich kann das Andaz auch nur empfehlen- vor allem „free wine at the Library“ von 17-19 Uhr ;) klasse Hotel!
