At one of our favorite restaurants in town, they offer a killer aperitivo for fall. It is simple, but combines a few great flavors to make a yummy pre-dinner drink: sage, orange & prosecco served on ice. Inspired by those ingredients, we decided to make our “Modern Moscow Mule” for this week’s Bubbly Friday. There is something we simply love about mixing herbs and fruit (see our Strawberry Basil Bellinis or the Rosemary-Pomegranate-Cocktail), so today we’ve paired sage with fresh oranges & grapefruit, spicy ginger, some vodka and bubbly ginger beer for the perfect autumn drink. A modern twist on your classic Moscow Mule.
What you’ll need:
– 2 fresh oranges
– 1 ripe grapefruit
– a few leaves of fresh sage
– fresh ginger
– 1 tsp. brown sugar
– 1 small bottle of ginger beer
– 2cl vodka
– crushed ice
Start by prepping your ingredients. Peal your ginger and grate or thinly slice it, then squeeze the juice of one of your oranges, as well as half a grapefruit. Slice the other orange and set it aside for garnish. In your cocktail glasses, mash/muddle 2-3 sage leaves with the grated ginger, brown sugar and a splash of the fresh orange and grapefruit juice. Add a handfull of crushed ice, the vodka and fill up with ginger beer. Garnish with sliced orange and sage. Best if enjoyed with your favorite mister on a rainy Friday evening with a home-cooked meal!

Oooooooh, das klingt und schaut ganz hervorragend aus! Salbei habe ich
bisher noch nie für Cocktails verwendet, nur Basilikum oder Minze.
Das werde ich definitiv ausprobieren! Habt ein schönes Wochenende!
